SB 130: Delegation Heads Meeting Act

nailabdin

A SENATE BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO AMEND THE STANDING RULES OF THE STUDENT SENATE FOR THE PURPOSE OF FORMALIZING THE COUNCIL OF DELEGATION HEADS AND INSTATING RECOGNIZED DELEGATION MEETING TIMES

Formalizing meetings of the Delegation Heads allows for structured work to be accomplished at these meetings and provides teamwork between Delegations to plan outreach events when a Delegation has fewer members than a larger Delegation.

The Delegation Heads at the 104th Session’s Delegation Head meetings have been examining ways to improve Delegation member communication to ensure that delegation outreach events are being accomplished each semester.

Instating recognized Delegation meeting times of the Senate meetings would help to establish discussions and plans at a common meeting time of Senators.

Having the first meeting of a new session require assigned seating for the Delegations to sit with each other provides an easier, initial connection for the Delegations, and allows for the Delegations to form a bond early in the Session that can make a lasting impact on the future work of the Delegation.
