A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO HONOR DEAH BARAKAT, YUSOR ABU-SALHA, AND RAZAN ABU-SALHA ON THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THEIR MURDER AND CONDEMN MUSLIM HATE CRIMES

The North Carolina State University Student Government formally recognizes the 10th Anniversary murders of Deah Barakat, Yusor Abu-Salha, and Razan Abu-Salha driven by anti-Muslim hate crime.


The North Carolina State University Student Government honors the positive impact on the Raleigh community and in North Carolina State University by Deah Barakat, Yusor Abu-Salha, and Razan Abu-Salha.


The North Carolina State University Student Government unequivocally condemns Islamophobia, anti-Muslim hate crimes, anti-Muslim hate speech, and advocates for the dignity of the Muslim students at North Carolina State University.


The North Carolina State University Student Government applauds the continual work and dedication of the Our Three Winners Foundation, The Light House Project, DYOR Clinic, Al-Iman School and Islamic Association of Raleigh to fostering a lasting, positive impact for advocacy on Deah, Yusor, and Razan’s story within the Raleigh community and at North Carolina State University.


A copy of this resolution shall be sent to Chancellor Randy Woodson, Assistant Vice Chancellor Justine Hollingshead, College of Design Dean Mark Elison Hoversten, College of Science Dean Lewis Owen, Pool College of Management Dean Frank Buckless, Our Three Winners Foundation Board Chair Dr. Suzanne Barakat, The Light House Project Founding Board Member Farris Barakat, DYOR Clinic Dean of Adams School of Density Dr. Janet Guthmiller, Deah Barakat's father Namee Barakat, mother Layla Barakat and brother Basem Barakat,Yusor Abu-Salha and Razan Abu-Salha’s father Dr. Mohammad Abu-Salha, mother Amira Bamyeh and brother Dr. Yousef Abu-Salha, former Principal of Al-Iman School Mussarut Jabeen, Principle of Al-Iman School Farea Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Islamic Association of Raleigh Ahmed Baianonie.


This resolution shall be effective upon its enrollment.
